My mom's purpose was to make us shine, and feel unique and loved. We want to share some of that love with the world. A woman and her mom. That’s us! From the designs to our fabrics to each piece we make, Main Couture is fashion-forward, vogue, feminine, and unique. Our pieces are handcrafted and cut one at a time with precision and love, and with fabrics that are representative of the colorful heritages of the Americas. Each piece includes a signature gold lining because we truly believe it’s time women go for the gold.
That’s what we deserve.
I always wore clothes made by my mother and lucky me I loved everything she made. She simply knew how to dress us best. In fact, she loved two things aside from us: education for her girls and fashion. We all loved fashion. We loved clothes. We loved how powerful we felt. How unique every outfit was. And when we wore mom’s clothes, it was like we were covered in a tremendous blanket of pure and unconditional love.
My mother has always been one of the most talented people I've met. She has a keen eye for design, with the ability to hear an outfit idea from you and be able to create it for you beyond your wildest dream. Growing up in the aftermath of the Trujillo regime era in the Dominican Republic, and despite her incredible talent, she never got to dream “big” enough. So many of her designs went undiscovered. In many ways, there was a story about my mom that was going on vicariously through me. When I was in my 20s at NYU, I started to see more and more the value of her genius. I thought her designs were up there with Chanel, so why not give them the place they deserve? Once a year, I’d wear one of her dresses to a young members’ annual party at The Met. On one of those years, New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham photographed me and I realized that the reason why I felt so beautiful and so comfortable was because my outfit was *just right* and it was made with incredible amounts of love that just poured from everywhere. I knew that one day I had to pass that on to other women. And so in 2019, I created Main Couture for women like my mom and myself, born bosses, but who could appreciate and use an ally when they needed to shine.
Our mom always believed we were bosses. In Main Couture, we believe you are a boss too. We created these skirts for the strong, confident, incredible boss in each of us.
